WATCH: Senator Scahill makes heartfelt maiden speech

Tribute paid to late councillors Anthony Waldron and John Naughten

In his maiden speech in Seanad Éireann, newly appointed Fine Gael Senator Gareth Scahill (Castlerea) paid a moving tribute to the late Councillor Anthony Waldron (Ballintubber). He also paid tribute to the late Councillor John Naughten (Drum) of Fine Gael, who passed tragically last October. He also paid tribute to the late Fine Gael politician John O’Mahoney.

Senator Scahill noted that Cllr Waldron was a community man whose legacy will live on. Cllr Waldron’s work as a community activist was noted by several Senators who paid their tributes to the late independent councillor in the Seanad today.
