Councillor Tony Waldron has died in his 60s

Cllr Anthony Waldron has died. He was aged in his 60s.

Cllr Waldron was found dead at his home in Ballintubber this morning, Sunday, February 9th. It’s believed he died of natural causes.

The well-respected West Roscommon councillor who has served the Roscommon Local Electoral Area as an Independent since 2019 began his career in electoral politics in 2004, initially with Fianna Fáil from 2004 to 2009. He made a successful return to local politics in 2019 and has increased his vote consistently at each election since.

His fellow councillors Paschal Fitzmaurice and Nigel Dineen have paid tribute to him publicly this morning.
