Roscommon Club Competitions: The club mixed foursomes is now at the quarter-final stage, and these matches have to be played by the 24th July. Round 1 of the T.J.C. O’Keeffe Fourball has to be completed on or before the 21st July. Open Week Competition Results: Open week continued last week with competitions on every day. Monday’s competition was an 18 hole singles sponsored by Edward Donnellan Menswear, Main Street, Roscommon. The winner was Ollie Hannon with 42 points. In second place was Frank Daly from Athlone with 41 points. Third place was Charlie McDonald with 40 points and Liam McNeill was fourth with 39 points. The gross was won by Tom Higgins with 34 points. Tuesday’s competition was an 18 hole singles sponsored by Michael Connaughton of Ros Office Supplies, Goff Street, Roscommon. The winner, for a second time during Open Week was Seamus Mulryan with 40 points. Second was Willie McManus with 38 points. Third was Eddie Naughton with 37 points and fourth was John Fitzmaurice with 36 points. The gross was won by the sponsor, Michael Connaughton, with 31 points. Wednesday was Ladies Day with an 18 hole stableford sponsored by Flemings Supervalu, Main Street, Roscommon.The winner was Mary Pender with 41 points. Second was Linda Maxwell with 38 points. Third was Paula Keane with 37 points and fourth was Marie McManus with 36 points. The gross was won by Paula Quinn with 26 points. Thursday was the traditional Casey’s Fourball, sponsored by Casey’s, Athlone Road Roscommon. The winners were Eddie Keane and Jackie Dempsey with 65. In second place was Ken Kearney and Paul McNally with 66. Third were Peter Brady and Clement McCormack, also with 66 and fourth were Noel Farrell and John Connaughton, also with 66 points. The gross was won by Tommie Greally jnr and Mario Costello with 72. Friday’s competition was sponsored by Garvey’s, Lanesboro Road, Roscommon. The men’s winner was Clement McCormack with 41 points. Second was Eamon Collins with 38 points and third was Mike Connor with 38 points. The gross was won by Tom Higgins with 28 points and fourth was Sean Mangan with 36 points. The ladies winner was Rosemary O’Brien with 39 points. Second was Joan Moran with 38 points and third was Orla Quinn with 34 points. The gross was won by Paula Keane with 21 points.
