Roscommon Chamber of Commerce have just launched a local Business Community Text Alert service. Business Watch Works is a Crime Prevention Programme founded on the same principles as Neighbourhood Watch, that is the practice of both the Gardai and the community coming together to prevent and reduce crime.
This should increase the level of detection and conviction of criminals and the recovery of stolen property. All Chamber members will receive texts alerting them to any events deemed suspicious by the local Garda control room.
This will alert businesses, for example, if counterfeit notes are being passed in the town. All members of the local community are reminded to report any crime to the Garda Siochana as normal and not just to leave it to someone else.
The Chamber has issued a big thank you to the Community Guards and the sub committee for setting up the text alert group. The texts are free to all members of the Chamber and any business is welcome to join. Anyone interested in joining should call Liam on 086-8613848 or John on 086-2586159.
