Mercy College’s Title Hopes Dashed by Coláiste Mhuire’s Dramatic Late Comeback

In a dramatic showdown, Coláiste Mhuire Johnstown from Kilkenny emerged victorious in the Allianz All Ireland Post Primary Schools Senior B final, overcoming Mercy College with a late surge. The game-changer was Aoibhe Bourke’s goal in the 57th minute, which helped secure a 1-4 to 0-3 lead in the final quarter.

From the outset, Coláiste Mhuire asserted dominance, with early points coming from Michelle Killeen and Abigail Whitty. Mercy College, however, wasn’t out of the fight; Hazel Kelly’s response included a vital goal in the 13th minute, keeping the scoreline tight.

Despite a spirited effort from Mercy College, which saw them briefly take the lead, Coláiste Mhuire Johnstown didn’t falter. After Bourke narrowly missed earlier, Lillian Cleere found the back of the net. The second half was a nail-biter, but thanks to critical points from Whitty and Corbett, Kilkenny’s Coláiste Mhuire clinched the championship.
