Roscommon CBS set up an all-Roscommon clash in the final of the Connacht Senior ‘B’ schools championship in dramatic circumstances in Mountbellew on Friday, Seamie Carthy punching the goal that gave them a 1-12 to 1-11 win over a highly-regarded Calasanctius College team that was backboned by players that won the Connacht minor club championship in Bekan a couple of months ago.
Tiernan Keane’s goal for the Oranmore school left it 1-7 to 0-6 at half-time but CBS had the better of the third quarter, halving the gap to two points, 1-9 to 0-10.
Carthy’s goal and points from Cian Duggan and Daniel Cullinane gave CBS the breathing room to hold out and set up a Connacht final clash with Scoil Mhuire of Strokestown, most likely played this coming Friday night.
