Playing the part of Billy will be Ben Mulhern from Roscommon town. Joining him on the cast is actress Hazel McGlynn.
36-year-old Roscommon town native Ben has enjoyed a decorated career to date and has appeared in a number of highly successful stage productions over the last number of years including ‘Blasted,’ ‘The Shawshank Redemption’ and ‘Ravin’ Lunatics.’

Indeed Ben received high acclaim for his eye-catching performance as ‘The Messenger’ in the 2006 production of ‘Antigone Interactive,’ with IndyMedia Ireland stating in their review that “if there has to be a star, then mention has to go to Ben Mulhern’s who manic performance held the play together from the start.”
The play is a hilarious, heartbreaking and disconcertingly realistic portrait of good times gone bad for two people who have promised to be together forever, husband and wife Billy and Breda.
The couple have been married for nearly a decade, and lately their relationship has taken on an air of suffocating monotony. They have two children together, though it would seem that starting a family has pushed them each further apart as opposed to bringing them closer together.
She sees their upcoming anniversary as an ideal opportunity for them to start focusing on ways of improving their bleak situation, but as the big day draws near, Billy’s and Breda’s disparate desires begin to come into focus not just for each other, but themselves as well – a moving piece of theatre and one not to be missed.
Speaking to the Roscommon People writer Eugene O’Brien said: “The play centres around a couple who are experiencing marital problems. It is a serious sad drama but also has a number of funny parts as well so it should appeal to a very large audience.
“I wrote the play about ten years ago and since then it has been performed in a number of cities including London and New York and has been very well received no matter where it has gone,” he continued.
“An extra dimension to it as that it includes Ben Mulhern, a very talented actor from the local area and of course Hazel McGlynn, who is also an extremely capable actress. The people of Roscommon should really enjoy it,” he concluded.
