Local duo set to ‘hijack’ the charts again

They’ve reached the top of the charts, played at Oxegen and held residencies in some of the top nightclubs in the region. Who is it, you may ask?

None other than the Hijackers, aka Sean Hayden and Richie Burke. Hijackers are a dance duo consisting of Ballinameen native Richie Burke and Sean Hayden from Carrick. Their debut album ‘Negotiations’ reached No. 1 in the iTunes dance chart and No. 6 in the iTunes overall chart in April of 2012, spawning 4 top ten dance singles to boot.

So far they have remixed the likes of Calvin Harris, Fedde le Grand, Rihanna, Faithless, Avicii and Afrojack and many of their remixes have been supported across Europe, UK, Australia and even as far as America and South America with their new single ‘Freak On’ already getting pushed by some of the major players.

They also have two tracks being used in an upcoming Irish movie due for release in Late 2015. With over 500,000 Youtube views, droves of fans and followers on Facebook and Twitter, these boys are going straight to the top. They have high energy sets incorporating some of the largest ‘choons’ and most exclusive mash ups around.

With plenty of MC work and crowd interaction, no club is safe from the carnage that these boys bring. Gig-wise they have played alongside some of the greats including Chuckie, Above and Beyond, T.J.R, Dimitri Vegas and Like Mike, Marco V, John O’Callaghan, Full Tilt and Bingo Players to name just a few.

Richie, who also currently DJs every weekend in Murtagh’s Bar and Lounge, joined up with Dunnes’ resident DJ Sean four years ago.

“I knew of Sean as a DJ but once I heard he had began remixing music I thought it was the way forward so we got together, set up a studio and formed a duo known as the Hi-Jackers,’ said Richie.

During the past four years this duo have enjoyed massive success reaching no. 9 in the charts with their debut single and performing at Oxegen in 2013.

“The Oxegen experience was overwhelming as we got to meet a lot of artists in the back stage including Pitbull, Devlin, Rizzle Kicks and David Guetta, so to be in the company of artists like that was a great experience.”

You can find this dynamic duo playing at many of the country’s top nightclubs. Also, keep an ear our for their new radio single ‘Freak On,’ which is expected to feature very promisingly in the charts.
