Castlerea Mart held its annual show and sale of Belgian Blue weanlings and Continental heifers show and sale on Thursday, 26th of September.
In the weanling section a top price of €3440 was paid for a Belgian blue weanling bull or €6.03 a kilo while in the heifer weanling section a farmer achieved €1820 for a 355kgs heifer or €5.12 a kilo.
Overall, a very successful sale took place. In the heifer section, the forward lots made up to €2460 while the store heifers met excellent demand from agents, feedlots and northern customers with up to €4.26 a kilo paid for stores.

Bullocks sale (Monday, 23rd of September): 260 bullocks were on offer at our annual show and sale of continental bullocks.
Forward lots made up to €2420 while the top quality stores made up to €3.81 a kilo with a good clearance taking place.
