The draw for the group stages of this year’s senior, intermediate and junior football championships took place in the Hodson Bay Hotel yesterday evening (Wednesday).
In the senior championship, Group C looks like the toughest group with Padraig Pearses being drawn together with Boyle, Clann na nGael and St Dominic’s.
Group A sees newly promoted Castlerea St Kevin’s face Roscommon Gaels, Tulsk Lord Edwards and Oran, while All-Ireland finalists St Brigid’s will play in Group B alongside Michael Glavey’s, St Faithleach’s and Western Gaels.
Coming off the back of their relegation from the senior championship last year, Strokestown will face St Brigid’s, Kilmore and newly promoted St Michael’s in Group C of the intermediate championship.
Last year’s beaten county finalists Eire Óg will face St Croans, Creggs and Furety in Group B while Nigel Dineen’s Elphin will play Padraig Pearses, Kilbride and Shannon Gaels in Group A.
In the junior championships, St. Aidan’s, who were relegated last season, will play Western Gaels, St. Barry’s and St. Ronan’s in Group A.
Clann na nGael, who lost last year’s county final will face Ballinameen, St. Joseph’s and Roscommon Gaels in Group B, while Kilglass Gaels have been drawn against Boyle, Strokestown and Tulsk Lord Edwards in Group C.
