Robbie Henshaw was outstanding in Ireland’s 27-24 Guinness Six Nations Championship victory over Scotland at Murrayfield on Sunday. Henshaw sent Ireland on their way to an away win, with the outcome closer than it should have been.
The Athlonian made a terrific chase to tap back a Garryowen and was alert and astute in continuing to follow up play, where he swooped after Keith Earls tangled with a duo of Scottish defenders to ground the ball for a smartly taken try. Henshaw consistently made breaks and tackles, leading by example from start to finish. He is arguably Ireland’s most consistent performer this season and surely a very strong Lions contender. He got a 9/10 rating in the Irish Examiner (the highest), where Brendan O’Brien asks, “Is Robbie Henshaw now Ireland’s best player?”
We hear his mum Audrey said his performance was the perfect Mother’s Day gift for her!
Now let’s hope Robbie and Ireland build on this display when England arrive at the Aviva Stadium this weekend.
