House prices in Co. Roscommon have risen by over 12 per cent over the past year, a new report has suggested.
This week the property website Daft.ie published its ‘House Price Report’ for the second quarter of 2015. It found there was an upward trend in the market throughout the country, including in Co. Roscommon.
It said the average asking price of a house in the county during the period in question was €107,030 – up 12.2 per cent than at the same point last year. This was also a 16.8 per cent increase on the ‘trough’ in the market, which was experienced during the depths of the recession.
The price of all types of residences in Co. Roscommon has increased markedly over the past year, the report suggested. In the second quarter of this year, the average asking price for a one-bedroom apartment was €38,000, a rise of 6.2 per cent.
A two-bedroom terrace house rose by 6.6 per cent, to €41,000. A three-bedroom semi-detached racheted up by 15.2 per cent, to €62,000. A four-bedroom bungalow rose by 14.1 per cent, to €131,000.
And, finally, a five-bedroom detached house shot up by 16.5 per cent, to €155,000. The report also suggested that roughly half of properties in Connacht find a buyer with six months of going on the market.
