Kerrane calls for action from the ESB for vulnerable customers

Sinn Féin TD for Roscommon/Galway Claire Kerrane has said that the ESB’s Vulnerable Customers’ Register requires urgent attention.
Kerrane has heard from hundreds of people across Roscommon/Galway since her initiative earlier this week to post out Humanitarian Assistance Scheme forms to those impacted by the Storm. She has posted out 700 forms out to date.
Speaking yesterday evening, Kerrane said: “The ESB’s Vulnerable Customers Register doesn’t actually do anything in an emergency situation such as we are seeing now. Those reliant on medical devices are not being prioritised.
“I am calling on the ESB to provide Generators to those reliant on medical devices to live. What’s happened this time can never be allowed happen again.
“The ESB group made €868 million in profits in 2023.
“This should be the VERY first step taken post the aftermath of restorations.
“I will put this to the ESB Management when I meet them tomorrow with my colleagues.”
