Six school modernisation projects in County Roscommon were funded in the latest tranche of funding announced by the Education Minister Mary Hanafin on Monday last. Frenchpark NS was sanctioned for permanent accommodation, while funding was approved to cover extra costs at Trien NS. Modernisation projects were also approved for Tarmon NS, Castlerea, Scoil Mhuire, Newtown, Creagh, Ballinasloe, Tulsk NS, Gorthaganny NS and Fuerty NS. The news was welcomed this week by Deputy Michael Finneran who said, ‘I welcome this announcement by Minister Hanafin and the Building Unit of the Department of Education & Science will be in contact with the Boards of Management shortly.’
