A number of events are taking place in the coming weeks in support of The Special Olympics’ ‘Support An Athlete’ campaign in County Roscommon. A Bowling Night will be held this Friday the 9 th of March at Ros Bowling Alley from 7 to 10.30pm. Teams can be entered by contacting Patricia Hughes on 086-8407 997. On Saturday March 10 th a Poker Classic is taking place at Hannon’s Hotel, Athlone Road, Roscommon starting at 9.30 sharp. Tickets are €20 and are now on sale or you can pay on the door. The County Roscommon Hunt Annual Charity Ride will take place on Sunday the 11 th of March starting at 1pm with proceeds from the event going towards Special Olympics this year. Participants will follow a route from Knockcroghery to Athleague. Sponsorship cards are now in circulation and all support is hugely appreciated. On Sunday the 18 th of March a Fundraising Dance & Auction will take place in An Bothar Rua, Elphin with music by Paschal & The Virginians. Donations on the door.
