Ladies Day at Races on Monday

Ladies Day and a racecard that includes a feature race are just some of the highlights of the upcoming two-day race meeting at Roscommon.

With the well-known TV presenter Sile Seoige the celebrity judge for the Best Dressed Lady, there is sure to be plenty of interest, a good atmosphere and no shortage of fashion next week at the Lenebane track.

Monday’s meeting (July 6th) is a long-established Ladies Day fixture. And this year the SuperValu stores in Roscommon are sponsoring very attractive prizes. First prize is €2,000 cash prize, while the other nine finalists will receive a €100 cash prize.

Racing gets underway on Monday at 5. 45 pm and the big race of the day is the Lenebane Stakes, which has a whopping €45,000 in prize-money.

The sponsors for Monday are EBF, SuperValu County Roscommon, Property Partners Earley Auctioneers, Roscommon Herald and At The Races. The Best Turned Out Prize for the best turned out horse in each race is sponsored by Lynch Flooring, Golf Links Road, Roscommon.

On Tuesday evening, racing begins at 5.30 pm and the card consists of five hurdle races and two bumpers. The feature race on the card is the Leo Dolan Memorial Handicap Hurdle, which should attract a quality field.

The sponsors for the races on Tuesday evening are the Dolan family, Martinstown Stud and EBF/ITBA. The Best Turned Out Prize for the best turned out horse in each race is sponsored by Glamorous Dogs/Keshia Casey.

“The two-day meeting should make for a great couple of days of high stakes racing and high stakes fashion. If Mother Nature grants us a few days of sunshine also, well, then, there’s not much more we can ask for,” said racecourse manager, Michael Finneran.

There will be music in the main bar after the second last race on both evenings. On Monday evening, Ciaran Rosney will entertain the crowd while on Tuesday Derek Campbell will provide the entertainment.

Admission for each day is €13 for adults and €8 for OAPs/students. Attractive group discounts available. The RosSpecial for €30 includes admission, a racecard, a two-course meal and a €10 betting voucher.
