The roadmap for a return to GAA club action has been brought forward by another two weeks, meaning championship action will now begin in mid-July.
The Roscommon Senior Hurling Championship is now scheduled to begin on the weekend of July 18th and 19th, with the Roscommon Football Championships starting a week later (July 25th/26th).
The additional two-week playing ‘window’ means that the third place play-off will be reintroduced into the football championship. Therefore the competition format will be exactly the same as in 2019.
Roscommon GAA County Board have this week indicated that they intend to livestream a number of club games on the Internet this year. They will make the formal announcement when they come to an agreement with the GAA and national broadcasters.
With the numbers allowed to attend games being capped at 500 (from the 20th of July), it means that supporters who cannot be present will be able to watch matches online, for a small cost. The full details will be revealed in the coming weeks.
The draw for the 2020 Roscommon Club Championships will take place this Monday, 29th of June. This will be streamed live on the County Board Facebook page.
