Castlerea Mart held its annual show and sale of Continental weanlings on Thursday last. Over 700 lots were presented for sale including heifers, cows, calves, and runners.
A fine yard of well presented weanlings met a really good trade and suckler farmers went home happy after a very successful day’s trading.
Bulls made up to €4.98 a kilo while heifers topped out at €6.04 a kilo with prize-winners exceeding €2000. The heifer ring reported a good clearance also with lots topping out at €2200, while the dry cows peaked at €2390.
