Friday, July 31st 2015: There was a nice entry of stock again this week. There was a similar trade for quality stock with the lesser quality a little less and more difficult to sell. The price for dry cows was on par to last week.
Date for your diary is the Show and Sale of autumn born weanlings which will be held on Tuesday August 11th at 5 pm. A Special Sale of bullocks and heifers will take place on Friday August 14th at 11 am and a Show and Sale of weanlings takes place on Tuesday August 11th at 5 pm.
New booking arrangements: Please note as and from 1st August bookings for all special sales will be accepted up to 5 pm on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays the week prior to the sale. The draw for the pens will take place on Thursday at 5 pm ie Bookings for weanling sale on 11th August will be accepted on Tuesday 4th August, Wednesday 5th August and Thursday 6th August – draw for pens on Thursday August 6th. New draw system for starting pen on sale days: The draw for the starting pen will be made at 10.45 am. on Fridays and 4.45 pm on Tuesdays. The first number drawn will be the starting pen and a second draw will be made to determine whether the draw will go up or down.

Sheep Sale, August 5th: There was a very good entry of sheep at this week’s sale despite the inclement weather. The trade for store lambs was better with prices improved from the previous week. There was no change in the price of factory lambs. The trade for cast ewes was in line with last week’s prices. Once again there was a good clearance of lots.
Weekly sales for sheep continue on Wednesdays at 11 am. Please note ewe lambs will be sold separately to wether/ram lambs. Draw for starting pens. Thursday, 30th July: There were 650 cattle on offer and despite the recent inclement weather conditions trade was maintained for most categories of stock on offer. Bigger numbers of bullocks and heifers presented for sale this week with the heifer ring reporting a very lively trade while the bullocks also reported a good clearance despite the recent dip in prices for plainer lots. Breeding stock and weanlings reported strong prices especially for the quality lots on offer.
Sample prices: bullocks: Chx 425kgs €1240 Lim 410kgs €1200 Ch 530kgs €1320 Lim 560kgs €1385 Ch 640kgs €1590 Ch 755kgs €1700 AA 720kgs €1620. Heifers: Chx 395kgs €1235 Ch 420kgs €1120 Ch 490kgs €1500 Ch 440kgs €1275 Lim 660kgs €1660 Ch 500kgs €1400.
