Thousands turn out to see The Tumbling Paddies in Castlerea

The Castlerea Rose Festival is currently in full swing and last night over 3000 people turned out to welcome Irish trad/rock sensations The Tumbling Paddies to town.

The festival committee witnessed the largest ever crowd at a Rose Festival event on Thursday evening as adults, teenagers and children filled The Fairgreen in Castlerea to sing and dance along to their favourite songs.

Speaking to the Roscommon People earlier today, Susan Gaynor, one of the Rose Festival organisers said “It was definitely the biggest crowd we have ever seen at a Rose Festival event and we were thrilled with the reaction from everyone. We also just want to say a massive thank you to all of our amazing volunteer committee, stewards and helpers who worked tirelessly until 2am this morning to get the venue back to normal.”

The festival continues tonight with Pig Racing on The Square from 8pm with music afterwards from Fleetwood Mac tribute band ‘Mack Fleetwood’.
