In a recent response to local Independent TD Denis Naughten, the HSE confirmed that final preparations are underway ahead of a reopening by the end of February.
Deputy Naughten said this was welcome news to the many older people who avail of the services.
“The reopening of this service will come as very welcome news to many older people who have been unable to meet up with their friends at day services based in Roscommon town for the last two years,” Deputy Naughten said.
“Older people and people with a disability have suffered the most over the last two years due to the lack of such services. While it is disappointing it has taken so long for the doors to reopen, I know this news will be warmly welcomed by many older people.
“Over the last six months we have seen a gradual reopening of day services for people with a disability and now also for older people. These services are critical not just for the health of individuals concerned but also for their families,” he concluded.
