Launch held last Friday night
After a highly successful show last year, the Glenamaddy District Ploughing & Agricultural Show is back again, and the committee have worked endlessly since last year to deliver an even bigger and better show for 2023. The big event will be held on Sunday, October 1st.
The launch of this year’s show, which took place last Friday night at the Glenamaddy Equestrian Centre, offered a real taste of what’s to come at the jam-packed upcoming show, with attendees discussing plans and gearing up for the event. The Glenamaddy Show committee are proud of the fact that this is the only show with its own song, i.e. ‘The Glenamaddy Show’, a song composed by local man James Shevlin (RIP) and performed by Julie Healy. Indeed Julie performed it at Friday’s launch.
Committee chairperson Bernie Murray extended a warm invitation to all, from near and far, to come along and enjoy the show. She also said she wished to “acknowledge the support from all our sponsors, without whom we would not be able to share this wonderful day with you, our visitors”.
Glenamaddy Show 2023 will take place on Sunday, October 1st, with the gates opening to the public at 10.30 am. An official opening by Jim Harrison (National Secretary of the Irish Shows Association) will take place at 12 noon at the Glenamaddy Equestrian Centre.
As ever, this year’s show will feature a number of exciting events – from the variety of competitions for ploughing/animal classes and the many indoor and outdoor trade stands and exhibits, to the musical entertainment and kids’ activities running throughout the day. An afternoon of entertainment with something for all the family is guaranteed at this year’s show.
