Gaels and Pearses for county final

Roscommon Gaels and Padraig Pearses will meet in the 2024 Hodson Bay Hotel senior football final after the weekend semi-finals. On Saturday Padraig Pearses easily defeated a very disappointing St Faithleach’s by 1-9 to 0-3 in very difficult conditions. The only goal of the game was scored by man of the match Declan Kenny midway through the second half. In the second semi-final on Sunday Roscommon Gaels edged out Michael Glavey’s after extra-time in what was a thrilling match. The Gaels led by 0-8 to 1-4 at half-time. It looked like Glaveys would spring a surprise when they led by four points (2-9 to 0-11) with just seven minutes to go but four points on the bounce (two from Tim Lambe) saw the scores level at the end of normal time. In extra-time, Glavey’s Robert Heneghan scored their third goal but the Gaels came back again and Peter Gilooly’s late goal sealed the win for Mark Dowd’s men, 1-19 to 3-9.
