Producers of SuperValu, Ireland’s largest grocery retailer, celebrated another successful year at the Blás na hÉireann awards, taking home 102 awards in recognition of their outstanding products. This brings the total number of awards won by SuperValu producers over the last three years up to an incredible 315 awards across SuperValu Own Brand, SuperValu Signature Tastes, Food Academy, The Happy Pear and Moo’d Ice-Cream.
The awards, which celebrate the best of Irish food and drink, saw SuperValu’s Roscommon-based producer, Waldron Family Meats, win a Gold award for their Maple & Mustard Glazed Baked Ham as well as best overall producer in Roscommon. Waldron Meats is a family-run business that has been curing, producing, and distributing a wide range of high-quality products, including pork, bacon, sausages, puddings, and cooked meats, throughout Ireland.
Waldron Family Meats is part of the Food Academy, a unique and tailored business development programme for start-up and early-stage food & drink producers, which is supported by SuperValu and the Local Enterprise Office. This programme not only helps indigenous businesses but also contributes to the overall growth and sustainability of the Irish food industry. Additionally, it serves as a platform for showcasing the excellence of quality Irish products and the innovative spirit of food and drink producers across the nation.
