Ciaran Mullooly elected as MEP

Roscommon’s Ciaran Mullooly was elected as an MEP for the Midlands North-West region on the 21st count in Castlebar last night.

He took the fifth seat in dramatic fashion, knocking out Sinn Féin’s Michelle Gildernew by just over 5,900 votes in the end.

This now means County Roscommon will have two sitting MEP’s after Castlerea’s Luke ‘Ming’ Flanagan topped the poll and retained his seat in Brussels.
