‘Act now to avoid Phase 3 lockdown’

The Cathaoirleach of Roscommon County Council, Cllr. Laurence Fallon has called on the people of Roscommon to bring Covid-19 cases in the county back under control and avoid a return to lockdown.

Speaking to the Roscommon People (see page 8), Cllr. Fallon said there was an “urgent need” for the people of Roscommon to bring the situation back under control before the county was placed under Phase 3 lockdown restrictions.

A stark rise in cases here has seen the county’s total rise to over 445. Fifteen new cases were confirmed here on Tuesday, which was the largest daily increase in the county since May. There had been seven confirmed cases on Tuesday and eight on Monday.

The 14-day incidence rate for the county, following 64 confirmed cases between September 15th and Monday, 28th stood at 99.2 per 100,000 population, well above the national rate of 88.47.
